The Aurora Symphony Orchestra is accepting applications through Dec. 31 for its 9th Annual Youth Concerto Competition. The contest is open to applicants aged 12 to 21, and includes cash prizes and a chance to perform with the ASO.
The Senior Division is open to competitors nationwide ages 12 to 21. The Junior Division is open only to Aurora residents aged 12 to 18. The competition this year is not open to pianists.
The first prize in the Senior Division is $1,000, and the first prize in the Junior Division is $500. The first prize winners in both divisions will be invited to perform with the ASO at the "Arts for a Better Tomorrow" concert on May 21.
Out-of-town first place Senior Division winners may receive accommodations and transportation for their performance date. Applications, which require a $15 fee, must be postmarked by Dec. 31. The audition is scheduled for Jan. 22 in Denver before an audition committee. Transportation to and from the audition is not provided.
